The WIRED film you just watched is an optimistic text! It spends much of its time looking at how AI and machine learning/neural networks can produce positive change in our daily lives– increasing productivity and accessibility, enhancing medicine and manufacturing, and so on. The film does detail potential problems, but does so fairly briefly. In this class, of course, our quarter-long research project involves identifying a problem that needs solving. We’re not trying to be pessimistic, but we do want to recognize, anticipate, and research problems that are arising or will arise with future technology so we can eventually work to recognize (and advocate for) solutions.
Assignment: Identify three different potential problems or issues with the technology described in this video. These can be problems the video describes or problems that you personally identify based on what the video portrays.
For each problem you identify, write at least 150 words in which you explain WHAT the problem is, and WHY it is a problem (what the consequences or ill effects are). That means this response will total at least 450 words.
