In regards to racial issues in the United States, what needs to be done, if anything? Look back at previous racially tense moments in the US (civil war, 1960s, etc): what was learned or not learned from those periods? Have other countries experienced such racial tension, and if so, what have they done? Are racial issues something that the government needs to fix or is that up to each individual? What is racial tension and where does it come from..if even able to answer? Explain. The general design of the paper should be as follows: Paragraph I: Describe, in detail, the current event. Paragraph II: What are the root causes of the event, and how we have come to this crisis. Paragraph III: What are the proposed solutions to the crisis? Where do the two major political parties (and/or candidates, countries, states) stand on how to address the issue? Paragraph IV: College-appropriate, first person analysis of the issue. Students are to present the solutions they think are best for addressing the issue at hand, in detail Paper: 4+ paragraphs (should be no shorter than 4 doubled-spaced pages (2 single spaced), one-inch margins, and 12-pt Times New Roman/Calibri type. Students must furnish parenthetical referencing in the body of the essay (author, date, page #). Minimum of 3 citations and 3 works cited. The style of source citations is student preference. Students must have a clearly labeled “Sources Cited” at the conclusion of the paper. Sources should not include Wikipedia or any other encyclopedia type information; Jr. High type sites such as Whitehouse.gov; non-credentialed blogs; textbooks; or instructor notes.
